Lost & Found: The Great Grape Rescue
Just 30 years ago it seemed the whole world was planting only a few grape varieties - Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Cabernet, Syrah et al - desperate for a slice of the success of French wine.
In the process, hundreds, sometimes thousands of years of tradition were ignored, and many native grape varieties came close to disappearing - forever!
Fortunately, an ever more adventurous wine drinking public, thirsty for variety, has prompted a reversal of the trend.
Meanwhile a new generation of dynamic winemakers has rediscovered its heritage, bringing ancient varieties back from the brink, and hugely enriching the wine world!
In a fascinating tasting we will present 8 delicious and unique wines, illustrating this 'new wave' perfectly: obscure, resurrected grapes with huge potential - each wine paired, of course, with equally interesting ingredients.
