Loupiac is a sweet wine AOC in Bordeaux, across the river from Sauternes and Barsac. Like it’s more illustrious neighbours it specialises in botrytised wines made from Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc.
This 2006 Chateau Martillac is amber in colour. The nose is citrus-dominated, with grapefruit, lemon and orange, and caramel. The palate is toffee and orange marmalade, a long grapefruit finish with some baking spice. All in all, something of a bargain.
