Touriga Nacional, Vasco and the Explorers

The wine is named after Vasco da Gama, the 15th century Portuguese explorer and the first European to reach India by sea via the Cape of Good Hope, fitting for a wine made from one of Portugal’s most revered varieties – although it wasn’t until the 1990s that production really began to take off in South Africa. Touriga Nacional loves sun soaked, warm climates and Stellenbosch has caught this grape just right – perfect ripeness and balance.

Captures perfectly the rich, textural dark fruit character of Portugal’s most revered black grape. Really juicy, savoury and rounded with weight and a lovely note of chocolate on the finish.
